The first coffee grinder championship in the world
PARTICIPATE IN THE FIRST WORLD COFFEE GRINDER CHAMPIONSHIP
Unlike other national and international coffee competitions, the MCGC focuses solely on the barista’s skills!
For 2023, the first stages have already been defined: June 17th at the Diemme Academy, October 1th during the International Coffee Day in Turin, and December 2nd during the Milan Coffee Festival, followed by the National Final on the next day.
There will be 6 to 8 baristas participating in each competition, and their goal is to accurately reproduce the sensory profile described by the roaster of the specialty coffee proposed, which will vary each time based on the sponsor.
Time: 15 minutes.
Equipment: 1 kg of coffee, 1 gravimetric coffee grinder, 1 single-group multiboiler machine, and all necessary accessories for preparation.
Procedure: During the calibration phase, the roaster will prepare the espresso, and the jury will define its aromatic profile. This profile will be used as a descriptor for the barista, without any additional information. The only variable the barista will focus on will be the grinding (determined by the chosen BR) to match the given profile.
